Face Friday: Feeling Summery

ff-summery-thHas anyone noticed that big ball of relative warmth in the sky? Yes, the sun is here for a little while, and to celebrate the country is losing the run of itself. Myself included to a certain extent, like with this creation, which went for a mix of pinks, corals and oranges, and coordinated with my dress, nails and mac, which I wore to an event in Inglot.

Face:

  • Foundation: Max Factor – Skin Luminizer Foundation (35 Light Ivory)
  • Blush: Wet n Wild – Coloricon Blush  (E832E – Heather Silk)
  • Powder: Benefit – Hello Flawless (Ivory)
  • Highlighter: Benefit – High Beam

Eyes:

  • Brows: Maybelline– Brow Drama (Medium Brown)
  • Primer: Makeup Revolution – Focus & Fix Primer (Brighten)
  • Shadow: NYC – Metro Quartet Shadow (797B – Gothic Harlem)
  • Liner: Cailyn Cosmetics – idefine Liquid Eyeliner
  • Mascara: Physicians Formula – Organic Wear Fakeout Mascara (the pink one)

Lips:

  • Lipstick: Wet n Wild – Megalast Lipstick (E909B – Coral-ine)
  • Lipgloss: Kardashian Beauty – Tuesday Lipgloss (Orange Blossom Honey 321)

Brushes:

  • Cailyn Cosmetics – O! Wow Brush – Foundation
  • Blank Canvas – F16 – Powder
  • Real Techniques – Buffing Brush – Blush
  • Blank Canvas – E23 – Shadow (crease)
  • Royal & Langnickel – Taklon Shader Brush – Shadow (lid, browbone & blend)
  • Blank Canvas – L29 – Lips

Pinks and corals feel so summery to me, so I am happy to get a bit of a change from the deeper shades of winter. The lips turned out well, being coraly orange without being an over the top orange shade, which only some people can get right!

Face Friday: Before & After Face

ff-before-after-thIt’s the return of Face Friday, and today I am trying an experiment. This is my before and after face. Before you click close on your browser, it involves no makeup free pictures. Let me explain. On Wednesday, I got my hair done. It went from being a deep brown with some growing out gold highlights, to being a lot brighter, close to blonde. And I wanted to see, side by side, how the change in colour affected the makeup look.

So, today I recreated the same look I did on Wednesday, to try and compare side by side. There may be some slight differences, but I used the same products and brushes, and the same technique. You may ask why I just didn’t take the after photos on Wednesday too, but by the time I got home it was too dark. Trying to match up lighting and brightness would just be too much of a hassle!

Anyway, here we have a before and after, starting with my looking straight on to the camera:

And an angle view:

Face:

  • Foundation: Benefit – The Porefessional
  • Foundation: Make Up For Ever – HD Foundation, working from a potted sample (115)
  • Blush: No. 7 – Pop & Glow Cream Blush (Classic Rose)
  • Powder: Maybelline – Fit Me Powder (125 – Nude Beige)

Eyes:

  • Brows: Maybelline – Brow Drama (02 – Medium Brown)
  • Shadow: Clinique – Chubby Stick for Eyes (10 – Big Blue)
  • Liner: Physicians Formula – Shimmer Strips Kohl Liner (Brown Eyes)
  • Mascara: Physicians Formula – Organic Wear Fakeout Mascara (The Pink One)

Lips:

  • Lipstick: Makeup Revolution – Scandalous Lipstick (Crime)
  • Lipgloss: L’Oreal – Glmshine Miss Candy Gloss (703 – Tart Lollipop)

Brushes:

  • Blank Canvas – F23 – Foundation (application)
  • Blank Canvas – F20 – Foundation (buffing)
  • Blank Canvas – F16 – Powder
  • Real Techniques – Buffing Brush – Blush
  • Blank Canvas – E23 – Shadow/liner blending
  • Blank Canvas – L29 – Lips

I’m not sure if it was lighting differences (I did try to equalise light levels), the change in hair colour, or the way my mood has been lifted and I’m smiling so much after getting my hair done, but I really do believe that my skin and my eyes look so much brighter in the after pictures. Sometimes, making a change is just what you need to do. What do you think?

Face Friday: Paint It Pink

pink-thIt’s October, and that means it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Specifically today, the Irish Cancer Society are asking people, men and women to Paint It Pink and paint Ireland pink through social media, raising awareness of Breast Cancer. As I am sure it has affected many of us, both directly and indirectly, it would be a shame not to take part, so I painted my usual Face Friday post pink, with these results…

Face Friday: Metallic Eyes

ff-eyes-thOn Tuesday I was looking at the Sleek Eye Dust in Vintage, and was thinking that working with other metallic colours would be ideal for this, really making the eyes intense. So, for this slightly delayed Face Friday (I have a spot that refused to behave yesterday, ick) I decided to give it a go and see what I could do.

First up, let’s take a look at the products used:

products

Face:

  • Blush: Benefit – Hervana
  • Highlighter: MeMeMe – Beat The Blues (Pearl Pink)

  • Shadow: Urban Decay – Naked 2 Palette – Inner Eye (Chopper)

Lips:

  • Lipstick: L’Oreal – Color Riche Collection Privee Nudes (Douzten’s Nude)

And the brushes. Yes, a lot of eye brushes were used for this.

There is so much that I am happy with about this look. I really love the nude glossy lip, which looks nicely made up without taking anything from the eye, and the highlighter added to the glowing skin in all the right places. The eyes are the stars of the show though. I wanted them to be quite intense, so that they really stood out, and once I perfect the eyeliner flick, and practice smoky eyes a bit more, I think this will be a really spectacular look. What do you think?

Face Friday: Tropical Face

facce-thAfter not having a Face Friday last week I decided something must be done this week for it. For this, I’ve been working on a quite minimal face with a tropical theme. This means lots of corals are involved, along with some other light colours.

Face:

  • Tinted Moisturiser: MeMeMe – Flawless Tinted Moisturiser (02 – Beige Blush)
  • Powder: Mary Kay – Sheer Dimensions Powder (Lace Coral)
  • Blush: Benefit – Cha Cha Tint
  • Blush: Benefit – Coralista

Eyes:

  • Brows: Maybelline – Brow Drama (Medium Brown)
  • Shadow: butter LONDON – Wink Cream Shadow – Lid (Sun Kiss)
  • Undereye: Shiseido – Sheer Eyezone Corrector (103 Natural)
  • Liner: Rimmel – SpecialEyes Mono Shadow – Used Wet (244 Moonstone)
  • Mascara: Mary Kay – Ultimate Mascara (Black)

Lips:

  • Lipstick: Mary Kay – True Dimensions Lipstick (Color Me Coral)

Brushes:

  • Real Techniques – Multi Task Brush – Blush
  • Real Techniques – Buffing Brush – Powder
  • Blank Canvas – E30 – Liner (Lid)
  • Royal & Langnickel – C260 Taklon Shadow Brush – Eyeshadow (Blend between shadow & liner)
  • No. 7 – Lip Brush – Lipstick

I really like the minimalistic, yet colourful look that this creates. It’s also the first time that I’ve done a white liner, and while I don’t have an actual white liner, the wet shadow did a lovely job. I love how that turned out, and may have to invest in an actual liner for it.

Face Friday: Intense and Neutral

intense and neutral thumbLast week for Face Friday, I did a neutral eye with an intense berry lip. This week, I’m doing the opposite, by keeping the lip neutral, instead going for an intense eye. Again it is following the common rule of emphasising either the lips or eyes, but not both. Remember though that some rules are made to be broken, so feel free to experiment.

Face Friday: Physicians Formula Launch

pf-face-thIt’s Friday and that means it’s time for another face. This one is actually similar but more ramped up than last weeks face, which was more minimalistic, and was what I used to go to the launch of Physicians Formula on Wednesday evening.
