Tried Tuesday: Hyalogic Episilk Lip Balm

tt-hyalogic-thThere are a couple of things that I really adore trying out. They’re lip balms and hand creams. It’s kind of the never ending search for the holy grail product. Fortunately the massive box of happiness that arrived from U magazine is really helping  out there, with a number of hand creams, and this Episilk Lip Balm by American Company Hyalogic. (Side note: I’ve actually driven past where this is made in Missouri many times without ever realising, and only copped on when I saw the address on the label.)

hyalogic-tubThere’s a lot of nice sounding ingredients in this balm, including Aloe, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter and Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid as we all know helps with skin hydration and moisture retention, which in lips helps keep them looking plump and kissable. There is also no scent included in this, which is a big benefit as, if there is no scent in it, there is no scent to get wrong.

hyalogic openThey did get something wrong though. It’s a tub. A massive 14g tub, but still a tub.  Tubs of course mean fingers, and fingers means you really should make sure they are clean first. That said, for a solid block in the tub, it melts into a paste easily under your fingers, and then glides onto lips extremely well, leaving a pleasant, vague tingling feeling behind. It may not be the holy grail of lip balm, but it’s a huge tub and does a great job, and that’s a good start.
