Perfect Match 2 Week Mani & Pedi at Carter Beauty

Perfect Match Mani-thumbHello all! Sorry I haven’t posted anything in a while. I’ve really not been feeling the blogging bug at all lately, but I’m back now, and today I have a review of my recent mani/pedi at Carter Beauty in Blackrock.

I’m a sucker for nail polish. I have a massive drawer in my Helmer full of bottles of all different colours and finishes, but I always have one (well two) problems. The first is my cack-handed application, and the second one is that it chips too quickly. That is why I love long lasting polish treatments. Because someone else does the job for me, and they’re designed not to chip.

Shellac is the original, which I love, but when the salon I used to go to closed I stopped getting it done, and since then numerous others have come on the market. When I asked on Twitter for recommendations during the week, the wonderful Marissa Carter invited me to Carter Beauty to have the version they use, Perfect Match, applied to my fingers and toes. So, on a gloriously sunny Wednesday afternoon I went down to try it out.

Carter Beauty is in an excellent location on Main Street Blackrock. Parking is readily available on street (pay & display), but as I was early, and it was so sunny I parked in the nearby shopping centre and took the 5 minute walk down to the salon.

The salon is bright and airy, with the large windows at the front adding to the very open feel, especially on such a lovely day, with natural light flooding in. As I was still a couple of minutes early I sat down to wait in front of the windows and the delightful Cocoa Brown wall (see my review here).

After just a couple of minutes, Ashlinn, who had the enviable task of dealing with my toes called me over and we talked colours. I wanted something natural for my fingers, but for my toes I wanted something screaming bright and summery, thinking a pink or coral. In the end I went with coral. It was then over to the cushy pedicure bays to have my toes done.

Ashlinn was a perfectionist. She checked with me every step of the way that I was pleased with the length and shape of the nails. She even managed to tame my little toes where others have tried and failed, or just not bothered saying there was nothing could be done with them. So far, so impressed. It was then time to apply the colour, a process of polishing and curing 4 times over (base, 2 coats of colour and topcoat). I lost myself in a magazine and after a total of about 30 minutes, my toes were unveiled in all of their coral shiny glory.

Beautiful coral toes, and my new butterfly. But look at those toes!

It was then over to the manicure station to have my fingers treated. Ashlinn again showed her skill and knowledge in prepping my nails into a short, slightly rounded set, again checking with me every step of the way. With a little bit of time and expert hands, my fingers were crowned with absolutely immaculate French tips.

Such a gorgeous French mani. The pic can't do justice to just how SHINY! it is.

There was absolutely nothing I could fault. The location and the staff are superb. The results were sensational. It was my first time at Carter Beauty, but it certainly will not be my last!

Perfect Match mani and pedi are €30 each, available at Carter Beauty, Main St. Blackrock, Co. Dublin
